The Clemson football team will be back in Death Valley for another ACC matchup this Saturday when the Tigers take on the Boston College Eagles.

Prediction & Analysis: How Clemson football beats Boston College

The Clemson football team was set to enter this game as a massive 31.5-point favorite over Boston College following a week in which the Tigers came out a little flat against Syracuse, ultimately coming away with a 47-21 win.

All that has changed in just a matter of hours, though.

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be available for this game. All of a sudden, a game in which the Tigers were favored by more than 30 has suddenly dropped to a 24.5-point spread overnight and could drop even more as we progress closer to game time.

Though the Tigers certainly have more talent and depth, this is a game that Boston College can keep close. The Eagles have become one of the more successful passing offenses in the conference this season with Phil Jurkovec at quarterback and a host of talented wide receivers.

That could prove to be a little bit of a problem for a Clemson defense that is banged up. The Tigers will be without starting middle linebacker James Skalski for a second-straight game and there are concerns that both DT Tyler Davis and CB Derion Kendrick could miss the game with injuries, as well. LB Mike Jones Jr. is banged up, as well.

If Kendrick is out, you’re going to be relying upon the younger guys to get the job done. That could lead to a few blown coverages and big plays for Boston College.

When you add all of that with the fact that the Tigers will be starting a true-freshman at quarterback and relying upon their running game to get the offense going, it could be a close one heading into the fourth quarter.

In the end, I think Clemson football is too good to lose this game but the Eagles won’t go away easily.

Final Score Prediction: Clemson 38, Boston College 21
