Clemson football is set up for years to come thanks to the 2020 signing class.
Backup quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei is the player that most people were excited about, however, it seems that Clemson football defensive end Myles Murphy and defensive tackle Bryan Bresee are the clear stars of the 2020 class.
How good are Myles and Bresee? They will go down as the two best defensive linemen in Clemson football history. Yes, that is a huge statement, but it does not make it wrong.
Bryan Bresee joined Tyler Davis as the only two true freshman defensive tackles to start at Clemson in their first-ever game. It was not long after game one that Myles Murphy showed that he too was as talented as any upper-classmen in front of him.
What we have seen from these two over the last month has been nothing short of spectacular.
Myles Murphy is an absolute monster. The scariest aspect of watching him play isn’t the fact that he still has another 2.5 seasons in a Clemson uniform (he is leaving early) but that he hasn’t even gone through an entire Clemson football offseason.
He is only going to get bigger, faster, and stronger. The same goes for Bryan Bresee.
Throughout the last 40 years of Clemson football, they have had some truly unbelievable defensive lineman put on the orange and purple.
The Perry brothers, Jeff Bryant, Jim Stuckey, Rob Bodine, Da’Quan Bowers, Grady Jarrett, Dexter Lawrence, Christian Wilkins, and Vic Beasley are just a few over the years, so when we say that these two freshmen will be the best to ever suit up at Clemson, they will sit amongst some truly unbelievable talent.
This last week against Georgia Tech, Myles Murphy ended the week as the third-highest graded pass rusher in college football according to Pro Football Focus. The only two guys in front of him for the week – Miami Hurricanes’ future first-round picks Quince Roche and Jaelan Phillips.
That is pretty good company for a defensive end making only his second career start.
Everyone hoped that Clemson football would head back to the cellar after Deshaun Watson left only to see the Tigers get better with Trevor Lawrence. Murphy and Bresee are again showing the Tigers are only getting stronger and aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
