Clemson Football: Games aren’t won on paper. Tigers have to show up.
The Clemson football team has to show up ready to go against the Miami Hurricanes
The Clemson football team has more talent and more depth than the Miami Hurricanes, but games aren’t won on paper with star ratings.
The Tigers are preparing to take on the Miami tonight in Death Valley in a game that will be televised nationally and is being given tons of hype coming in.
Though Clemson is favored by 14 points and the Tigers clearly have more depth, that doesn’t mean that they should already be given the ‘W.’
In a game like this, Clemson football must earn its victory
Miami’s going to enter this game with nothing to lose. The Hurricanes have some pieces that could be trouble for Clemson- such as an All-American level tight end in Brevin Jordan and a shifty, elusive in quarterback in D’Eriq King. Both of those guys can make plays and will be mismatches at times against the Tiger defense.
Miami also has a pair of pass-rushers in Jaelan Phillips and Qunicy Roche, who very well may be the best duo that Clemson football will face over the course of the 2020 regular season.
That being said, those pieces aren’t enough to beat the Tigers outright. Yes, they can give them trouble. Yes, they can make some plays and make the game interesting. But it will ultimately be up to Clemson to determine the outcome of this game.
Miami can’t win this game without Clemson making some mistakes. The Hurricanes can’t come up with a victory without the Tigers giving them a few gifts along the way.
But that’s what makes College Football so interesting. We see the better team in a game fall short all the time because of a plethora of different reasons and that’s why we must remind Tiger fans coming into this one: Games aren’t won on paper.
Clemson has to come out focused, ready to go and execute at a high level. The Tigers are the more talented team, but it will take them making plays and doing what they’re capable of to win this one.
