Trevor Lawrence’s Heisman hopes hang in the balance vs. Miami Hurricanes

No Clemson football player has ever won the Heisman Trophy and that means Trevor Lawrence has a chance to make history during the 2020 season.

Trevor Lawrence- who entered the season as the overarching favorite to win the award- now sits tied for second on the list with Justin Fields, but who is first? None other than Miami QB D’Eriq King.

King, who has emerged following some impressive performances against Louisville and Miami, will now be traveling up to Death Valley to take on the Tigers, led by Trevor Lawrence.

Talk about a major Heisman battle for Trevor Lawrence on Saturday

Lawrence can’t win the award Saturday night, let’s make that clear. There’s still too much season left for him to become the winner, even with a Heisman-esque outing.

However, he can definitely lose it Saturday against Miami.

If Lawrence comes out and doesn’t look sharp. If he throws an interception or two and Clemson struggles to put away Miami or, even worse, loses to the Hurricanes, Lawrence could be out before the voting ever really gets underway.

The eyes of the nation are going to be on this game. Heisman voters, NFL scouts, national media and fans alike are going to be tuning in expecting to be blown away by Trevor Lawrence and his skill set. If they come away disappointed or unimpressed, we could be talking about yet another instance where a Clemson Tiger is left out in the cold before the season is even rolling.

Saturday presents a unique challenge for Trevor Lawrence, who can set the narrative for the Heisman Trophy moving forward.

Next. The moment will be too big for Miami. dark

He has an opportunity to go ahead and cement himself as the unquestioned leader and he can’t come up short or have King outduel him in perception.
