Dabo Swinney isn’t going to the Houston Texans. Give it a rest.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney became the subject of conversation Monday evening when it was reported that the Houston Texans had fired GM and Head Coach Bill O’Brien.

It didn’t take long for rumors to start that Dabo Swinney could join his former Clemson football quarterback Deshaun Watson in Houston to give the Texans a championship-caliber pairing that could possibly put the franchise on the right track after some absolutely terrible decisions made by O’Brien over the course of the last half-decade.

As a matter of fact, one could argue that the only right decision O’Brien made during his time was trading up to draft Deshaun Watson.

Despite the speculation, it didn’t long for Dabo Swinney to put those rumors to bed

At his press conference Tuesday morning, Dabo Swinney was asked by prominent reporter Phil Kornblut if he was prepared for his name to be floated around with the Houston Texans for weeks and perhaps months to come.

Swinney then delivered a one-liner that was perfect for those who have been keeping up with notes from around the state.

"“You would be the one to ask that question,” Swinney said. “Next question.”"

For those not in on the joke, Swinney was vaguely referring to in-state rival South Carolina Head Coach Will Muschamp when he was asked a question from Kornblut last week. Kornblut asked him about the viral video that showed Muschamp dropping the f-bomb that was supposed to stay in-house.

Muschamp’s response? He gave a weak apology and said this:

"“You would be the one to ask that question. Tiger Phil strikes again.”"

It’s always fun to see Dabo Swinney poking a little fun at his rival, especially in a year where the two teams don’t have an opportunity to play each other on the field.

Swinney isn’t going to leave Clemson any time soon and he continues to make that clear even when narratives are creating.
