Virginia is just the appetizer for Clemson football as the Tigers await their upcoming entrée
The Clemson football team is back in action this Saturday evening in Death Valley following an open date.
The Tigers, ranked No. 1 in the nation, are currently 2-0 and will be looking for a convincing win over the Virginia Cavaliers this weekend in a game that they are favored by 29 points.
While there is certainly a chance that Virginia could do the unthinkable and pull off a major upset on the road, there has been more talk this week about whether or not Clemson football will cover that sizeable spread than anything else pertaining to the matchup.
Virginia will give the Tigers a better test than either of the other two opponents that they’ve played, but the truth is that the Cavaliers are just an appetizer for what is to come a week from now.
Who would’ve ever thought Miami would be considered a major game for Clemson football?
Clemson football fans were excited to see the Miami Hurricanes added to the 2020 schedule, but it had nothing to do with thinking that the Hurricanes would be a legitimate force and solid competition. It simply had to do with the fact that it’s Miami and that’s a prominent program in the ACC that the Tigers don’t get to play all that often.
Yet here were are.
If Clemson beats Virginia in Death Valley tonight, the game against Miami next week will be a battle of top-10 teams, televised nationally on ABC. How far we’ve come in less than a month.
Assuming the Tigers win, this would be the first top-10 matchup for Clemson football in the regular season since the Tigers played Louisville in Death Valley back in 2016.
If you’re like me, you have finish off your appetizer before the entrée comes, but make no mistake about it: There will be at least a few glances over towards Miami from the Tiger fan base before the appetizer has officially been finished.
