The Clemson Tigers took care of business against The Citadel
No one expected Clemson’s matchup with The Citadel to be a close contest. What did catch me off guard was the efficiency and crispness that the Tigers came out of the locker room with, resulting in a 49-0 victory.
Regardless of the competition there have been times over the years where the Tigers would take a better part of a quarter to find themselves. Through two games this has not been the case. The Tigers have come out and set a tone in all three phases.
The 2020 Clemson football team is far from a finished product but fans have been able to witness the tangible potential. A potential that was missing from last year’s squad, especially on offense. This is a completely different offense, there is more creativity, there are routes attacking all parts of the field, the quarterback is going through progressions, as a results tremendous pressure is being placed on defenses.
There is plenty that must improve if the 2020 team is to raise the trophy in Miami Gardens. Offensive line play has to become more consistent. There were moments today where the line struggled to get push, especially near the goal line.
Talent is not the issue, there is a need for this offensive line to run their feet and move opponents out backwards on a more consistent basis. This offense is going to need to be able to line up and move the opposition at different points, especially as the competition ramps up.
Defensively, it is hard to know where things stand with the secondary coming off a game against an option offense. The next time we see the Tigers on the field we will start to get a better picture of exactly where the Tigers stand as far as their championship aspirations. With Miami looming on the schedule in three weeks, it will be imperative the secondary continues to grow and gel.

The 2020 edition of Clemson football has the makings of being one of the most entertaining teams in program history. When you combine the on the field play, the talented youth and unique collection of personalities, everything sets up for a memorable fall. Sit back and enjoy each moment!
