Placing a Vegas Spread on the Clemson vs. The Citadel match-up this Saturday

The No. 1-ranked Clemson Tigers will play their first home game of the 2020 season this Saturday afternoon when The Citadel Bulldogs come to town.

The Tigers opened up the season with a commanding 37-13 win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons that really wasn’t as close as the score indicated and they will now turn their attention to The Citadel for a game that should provide opportunities to play a bunch of young players and develop depth.

Since this is an FBS vs. FCS game, Vegas will not release an official line for the match-up. That’s why we at Rubbing the Rock have you covered.

What would the Vegas Spread be for Clemson vs. The Citadel? The answer is a lot…

We can expect that Clemson won’t intentionally run up the score against The Citadel, but we can also expect that the Tigers are still going to score a ton of points.

Even the second and third-stringers are going to have a chance to score touchdowns.

In addition, knowing what we know about The Citadel, the Bulldogs are going to have a tough time moving the ball. Clemson showed a little bit of a deficiency in the secondary, but The Citadel is by no means a passing team. Instead, they’ll try to run the ball and that simply isn’t going to work well against that vaunted Tiger front-seven.

The result? Clemson will win this game and it shouldn’t be all that close.

If we were placing a spread on the game (just for fun, of course) it would look something like this:

  • Spread: Clemson -48.5
  • Over/Under: 61.5

The Tigers should win this game by a hefty amount and, honestly, 48.5 may be too little just depending on how things go once the backups get into the game.

Next. Studs & Duds in victory over Wake Forest. dark

Either way, it should be fun to watch for Clemson football fans wanting a little glimpse into what the future holds as the program continues to develop and grow with the game this weekend.
