Clemson Football: Last minute predictions vs. Wake Forest
The Clemson football team will open up the 2020 season against Wake Forest tonight
After months of waiting with anticipation and sifting through uncertainty, the Clemson football team will officially take the field tonight.
The Tigers will open up the 2020 season against ACC foe Wake Forest at 7:30 p.m. in a game that will be televised live on ABC. While there will be no fans in the stands, there will be thousands of Clemson football fans- as well as millions of College Football fans- with their eyes intently glued to their television screens to see just exactly what the Tigers are able to do in their season-opener.
As we progress closer to kickoff tonight, here are some last minute predictions for the match-up.
Last Minute Predictions for Clemson football against Wake Forest
- Trevor Lawrence begins his Heisman trek tonight
This may not be a bold prediction, but I believe you’re going to see Trevor Lawrence take a legitimate step towards winning the Heisman Trophy tonight. Why? The eyes of the nation will be squarely on him.
Lawrence has made his voice known throughout this offseason and now he has a chance to make an impression on the field. He is already the most-recognizable College Football player in the nation and the Heisman voters are going to fall in love with him after he tears that Wake Forest secondary to shreds Saturday night.
- Derion Kendrick makes his presence felt with an interception
Derion Kendrick is going to be an All-American, in my opinion, before it’s all said and done. He’ll begin taking stake to that claim tonight after coming up with an interception.
- Travis Etienne breaks off the first TD of the season
This is more like clock-work than anything else, but I don’t think it’s going to take long for Clemson football to get on the scoreboard. Travis Etienne will break off a long run and turn it into the first TD of the season for the Tigers.
- Clemson puts up 500 yards of total offense
The Tigers are going to score and it’s almost going to be at will. Look for the offense to have a huge night and to muster more than 500 yards of total offense before it’s all said and done.
- D.J. Uiagalelei– not Taisun Phommachanh– will be the first QB off the bench
We’re going to see the backup QBs at some point in the second half in Winston-Salem and it won’t be the veteran who takes the field first.
I’m predicting we see true-freshman D.J. Uiagalelei take the field as the first QB off the bench instead of Taisun Phommachanh.
- That defensive line looks nasty
Our final prediction for the game is that the Clemson defensive line will look nasty. With K.J. Henry, Myles Murphy, Bryan Bresee, Nyles Pinckney, Tyler Davis, and others, this Tiger front-seven is going to be completely dominant.
