Defensive Backfield

CB- Derion Kendrick

FS- Nolan Turner

  • Joseph Charleston
  • Jalyn Phillips

SS- Lannden Zanders

  • Ray Thornton
  • Jalyn Phillips

CB- Andrew Booth Jr. or Mario Goodrich

  • Malcolm Greene or Fred Davis

This is the deepest cornerback room that Clemson football has had in the Dabo Swinney era and that’s going to be evident very early on. Expect to see a wide rotation of cornerbacks with Derion Kendrick shining the brightest.

The safeties have plenty of talent but there’s still some questions surrounding the depth at the position and if those young players can step up and fill their roles.

One thing that will be different about this year is when the Tigers move into nickel/dime packages. We could see a traditional set with an extra defensive back on the field. In my opinion, that’s where you’re going to see freshman Malcolm Greene- who the coaches and players have raved about over the course of fall camp- excel.
