Trevor Lawrence is stepping up into the national spotlight as the leader CFB needs

While there is unrest throughout the world of College Football, Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence has been a light through the darkness and a true leader.

Trevor Lawrence, who is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has been one of the most vocal characters in the saga to save the 2020 College Football season. Though Lawrence is likely the one who will benefit least from his scholarship- after all he could sit out the season and still be the top draft pick- he is continuing to speak up and show his true desire to play a final season, along with his teammates and thousands of other athletes across the nation.

On Saturday, Lawrence posted a series of tweets making the argument for football being conducted this fall.

His words resonated with so many that by Monday morning, there were thousands of College Football players and coaches tweeting in favor of the #WeWantToPlay movement.

Lawrence and his teammate Darien Rencher tweeted out a graphic late Sunday night forming together an alliance with athletes from across all five Power-5 conferences seeking to have their voices heard, to play the 2020 season, and for there to be established protocols and eligibility promises for players.

The last request on the graphic is to establish open communication and trust between players and officials, ultimately creating a College Football Players Association.

While the tricky laws pertaining to setting up a union and many other hurdles stand in the way, the truth of the matter is simple: Trevor Lawrence is the unofficial president of CFB Players Association.

We may never see a true union of College Athletes, but Trevor Lawrence is doing everything in his power to bring unity and there are athletes across the country who value what he has to say and are listening to him.

That’s the sign of a true leader.

While this may not bring any type of change in College Football, there’s no doubt that Lawrence is leaving a legacy both on the field and off the field that won’t be forgotten, whether he plays another snap for Clemson football or not.
