Donald Trump shows support for Trevor Lawrence, #WeWantToPlay movement

U.S. President Donald Trump was the latest in notable figures across the country to chime in on his thoughts of the #WeWantToPlay movement in College Football, which was notably jump-started by Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence.

Trevor Lawrence, who is slated to play what all believe will be his final season with the Clemson football program, posted a series of tweets over the weekend in support of playing the 2020 season when rumors began to swirl that the Power-5 could call it quits.

Late Sunday night, Lawrence- along with his teammate Darien Rencher– posted a graphic outlining the fact that players wanted to play and they wanted their voices to be heard.

Trump was the latest in a group of hundreds of notable figures to post in support of the movement.

The voice of Trevor Lawrence is being heard

We’re not here to talk politics or to go in the weeds for anything related to outside of football, but this post and many others shows one simple fact: When Trevor Lawrence says something, it carries weight.

Lawrence’s voice is being heard. The voice of hundreds of College Football players from around the country that he represents are being heard. The only question at this point is if they’ll be listened to.

We’ve seen numerous coaches, politicians, parents and plenty of other prominent voices come out in favor of the #WeWantToPlay movement and it’s clear that Lawrence is creating change and using his power to stand up for what he believes in.

Trevor Lawrence is a leader among men. He’s simply different.

As we said earlier, what he says carries weight. He’s respected by his peers and his opinion resonates with those who are years older than him.

No matter what comes of the 2020 season, there’s no doubt that Lawrence has a promising career ahead of him- even when football comes to a close- because of just how special he is as a person and community (dare we say national?) leader.
