5-star Clemson football target takes visit to Florida State

5-star Clemson football target Tristan Leigh is in the midst of gathering information to make the best decision for himself moving forward.

Leigh, a 5-star OT from Fairfax, VA, took an unofficial visit to Florida State this past Tuesday as he continues to go through the recruiting process.

Though Leigh was on campus, FSU coaches were unable to speak or meet with him as part of the NCAA’s current dead period that is in place until August 31.

In addition to his visit to Florida State, Leigh recently did an interview with 247 Sports discussing and updating his recruitment. Though he said he has gathered quite a bit of information during the quarantine period, the 5-star OT would like to take all five of his official visits before making a final decision.

Leigh said he is looking for many things in a school, but none are more important than his relationship with the coaches.

"“The No. 1 thing with me is relationships with the coaches. I want to make sure the coach has my back as a student and athlete, and has my family’s back. If I need someone to talk to, I want that coach to be that figure,” Leigh said via 247 Sports."

Leigh is a big-time target for Clemson football

Seeing that he took a visit to Florida State during the dead period, that shows me that Leigh is legitimately trying to figure out what school- not just football program- is best for him.

Recruiting analysts differ on opinions when it comes to who is the leader in the race for Leigh’s services, but Clemson, LSU, Florida State, Penn State and Oklahoma seem to be the favorites at this point.

Currently, Clemson is probably given a slight edge but his recruitment is clearly not a done deal by any means.

Leigh, who is 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds, is ranked as the nation’s No. 3 offensive tackle and the No. 11 overall player in the country.
