Unlike other programs, Clemson is being upfront and honest
The Clemson football program has had some disconcerting numbers when it comes to COVID-19 tests coming back positive since the Tigers arrived back on campus.
Since voluntary workouts began back on campus, Clemson has announced 37 football players to test positive. While positive tests certainly should be expected- and likely will continue- those numbers still faced backlash from national media members who were expecting the Tigers to shut it all down and not continue with workouts. To this point, it should be noted, there have been no hospitalizations and the vast majority of positive cases have been asymptomatic.
To this point, though, Clemson has continued to host voluntary workouts and the Tiger players are taking more precautions than ever before as they go through their routines.
As the Clemson football players are home this week for a previously-scheduled break (4th of July week), there’s become something apparent with COVID-19 that simply doesn’t add up: While Clemson is being completely transparent, there are other programs around the nation who simply are choosing to not report their data to the public.
Clemson may face backlash, but at least the Tigers are being honest
No one said playing College Football in 2020 would be easy, but Clemson has at least shown the way for what programs are going to have to be willing to do if we are going to have a say: Be up-front and honest.
While many other programs across the country choose to stay away from reporting their cases and giving a clear picture of what’s going on, the Tigers have taken the proactive approach of sharing all of their information and being forthright with the public.
There may be scrutiny from the media. There may be those who disagree or throw out crazy ideas like the one from Boomer Esiason, but we should at least give credit where credit is due: The Tigers are a step ahead of the rest of the nation because of their willingness to be transparent.
