As COVID-19 starts to spike in the state of South Carolina, fans should trust that the Clemson training staff will do their very best to keep everyone safe.

Clemson released some figures today about student-athletes and test results. Those results should not be at all surprising, nor should it force anyone to worry.

The fear of the unknown is always scary; it is human nature to fear what we don’t know. What we do know about COVID-19 is that millions have contracted at, there are millions at high risk, and a couple of hundred-thousand people around the world of passed away due to its complications.

What we do know is that Clemson athletics has some of the best facilities, doctors, trainers, and coaches in the country and that extends far beyond just football. We also know that they are not going to selfishly put athletes in harm’s way simply for sport.

The Clemson athletic department said Friday that 315 tests have been given to all involved and just 28 have come back positive and most of those were from students/staff that were asymptomatic.

Clemson is doing everything the right way

Clemson is doing all that they can for all involved and in many cases that is better than what a student-athlete would have at home. Most people, not just athletes, do not have access to the type of nutrition and doctors that they Clemson athletes have while on campus and that is something that we should remember as test results come out every week.

We have to believe that should COVID-19 start to spread and becomes what could be deemed uncontrollable that those in charge at Clemson will shut everything down in the best interest of staff and students.

That is obviously a worst-case scenario and something that more than likely will not happen, but what we have learned from those in charge at Clemson, they will not hesitate to do what is right for all involved, not just what is right for certain people.
