3. Stats Matter

We all know that stats don’t matter, but in the case they do. Lawrence is going to have to put up some impressive numbers during his junior year to surpass Watson.

In particular, he needs to throw for at least 4,000 yards and more than 25 touchdowns. Why?

Watson finished his Clemson football career with 10,163 yards passing that included two 4,000-plus yard passing seasons (both hold the top two spots in school history for season passing yardage). He threw for 90 touchdowns and accounted for 12,097 yards of total offense during his career.

If Lawrence can reach those numbers of 4,000 and 25 touchdowns, he would pass Watson on the all-time career list in every statistical category for quarterbacks. It’s not all about stats, but you’ve got to have the numbers to enter the conversation.
