With the dog days of summer upon us, there are three reasons for Clemson football fans to be excited about the month of June.

Clearly, 2020 has not been a kind year to anyone and has turned all of our lives upside down. Many of us knew that we loved sports, but how many of us realized how much we actually needed sports until now?

Sports might as well be part of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs if we are being honest.

With June 1st now just a couple days away, there are three things Clemson football fans can look forward to and be excited about now that the year is nearly halfway over.

1. Clemson football players are returning to campus

Obviously, this will be done safely and effectively to ensure all athlete’s safety and are protected from the coronavirus. Both Clemson University and the NCAA have measures in place that will allow for players to come back to campus and resume some sort of normal routine.

Players are not being forced to come back either. This is will be done on a voluntary basis and as of now, no athletes nor parents have expressed concern about the measures in place. Matter of fact, Donnetta Etienne, mother of the reigning All-ACC Player of the Year Travis Etienne, has said she completely trusts head coach Dabo Swinney to take care of her son.

2. Clemson football summer workouts

Part of getting players back on campus and into a normal routine means that guys will get into workouts led by head strength coach Joey Batson.

If these guys are indeed going to play a normal college football season, these workouts are going to be more important than most years. Having lost out on half of their spring practices as well as nearly 10 weeks’ worth of actual workouts, these summer workouts are going to be more important than ever.

Coach Batson and his staff are the best in the country at what they do and getting the guys back in shape and ready to play 15 games for the fifth time in six seasons is paramount. Plus, it will give us something to talk about over the next 12 weeks.

3. Clemson football is 90 days from kickoff

Clemson football season is something that we are all looking forward to and are craving at this point. Having no live current sports on at this point is only making the college football offseason move that much slower.

No Braves baseball or NBA playoffs has made this offseason trickle by.

The good news with June 1st approaching, we are roughly 90 days away from Clemson football kicking off. This year they will kick off Thursday, September 3rd in Atlanta against longtime ACC rival Georgia Tech.

The last time that Clemson kicked off on September 3rd was the 2016 season when they kicked off the season at Auburn and went on to beat Alabama 35-31 in the national title game. Clemson has not lost a Week 1 September college football game since 1999 when they lost 13-10 game at home to Marshall.
