Here’s what’s remaining for Clemson football in the 2021 recruiting cycle

The 2021 Clemson football recruiting class is one of the best in the nation and is currently ranked No. 13 in the country with 13 commitments.

The Tigers are in position to finish with one of the top classes in the country for a second-straight cycle and that all should be credited to Dabo Swinney and that Clemson football coaching staff.

As we head into the thick of the summer, here’s a look at what’s remaining for the 2021 recruiting cycle position-by-position. We’ll begin our list with a look at the positions that are finished for Clemson football.

Finished Positions

  • Quarterback: Bubba Chandler (3-star)
  • Running Back: Will Shipley (5-star); Phil Mafah (4-star)
  • Tight End: Jake Briningstool (4-star)
  • Linebacker: Barrett Carter (4-star); Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (4-star)
  • Defensive End: Zaire Patterson (4-star); Cade Denhoff (4-star)

The Tigers had a goal of taking one quarterback, 1-2 running backs, one tight end, two linebackers and two defensive ends in that class. They’ve met that quota at each of those positions.

One spot that we could see an over-sign candidate is at defensive end. The Tigers offered 4-star DE Dallas Turner and 4-star DE Keanu Koht and there is still some interest from 5-star Korey Foreman, who decommitted from Clemson earlier this spring.

The Tigers could open up a spot down the stretch if they feel like there’s a good fit at any of these positions, but they’re going to turn their attention to other needs as we head into the summer.

With 13 commitments, the Clemson football coaching staff is prepared to take somewhere in the realm of 5-7 more prospects in this cycle. Here’s a look at the top remaining targets.
