The Clemson football program has been absolutely dominant for more than a half-decade, but SEC fans still can’t come to grips with that fact.

The Clemson football program has been absolutely dominant in every single way for more than half of a decade and the Tigers don’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon.

The Tigers have consistently beaten opponents in the CFB Playoff on their way to two National Titles in the past four seasons and five-straight ACC Championships.

Though the Clemson football program remains atop the CFB world, many SEC fans just simply can’t come to grips with the fact that there might be a program better than anyone in their conference.

Pro Football Focus released an interesting statistic detailing the top defenses since 2017. Clemson football has allowed just 396 offensive points since 2017. That’s less than Washington (444), Alabama (444) and Georgia (456) in the same time frame.

Of course, many SEC fans think that statistic should have an asterisk beside it because of the fact that Clemson plays in the ACC.

I love the SEC fans who think that the Georgia and Alabama defenses have faced such elite offenses over the course of the last three seasons.

For all the hate spewed at the ACC, there’s no way possible that you can have the words ‘SEC’ and ‘elite offenses’ in the same sentence.

LSU was the first elite offense to come from the conference in quite some time and the Tigers ran roughshod over everyone. Before that, the SEC was nothing more than an archaic league that struggled to face anyone with a true pulse offensively. Honestly, that’s still the case.

You can hate on Clemson’s schedule and opponents all you want, but let’s not pretend that Alabama or Georgia have faced elite offenses. They’ve faced under performing, archaic and out-dated offenses who don’t spread the defense out or challenge them.

And let’s not even start on Washington.

The truth of the matter is that Clemson football has consistently had one of the best defenses in the nation- and it shows in the postseason- year after year. It’s a testament to Brent Venables and the talent that the Tigers have stockpiled on that side of the ball.
