The Clemson football coaching staff has already offered one talented high school freshman as they continue to stay ahead of the curve.
The Clemson football coaching staff simply does not offer high school freshmen or sophomores, but that’s not the case with this one defensive back.
Avieon Terrell- A.J. Terrell’s brother- announced that he had received a scholarship offer from Clemson football, according to reports from Tigernet.
Terrell is currently a freshman in high school and is part of the 2023 recruiting class. While he already has garnered offers from many other programs around the country- including LSU, Georgia, Florida, Nebraska, South Carolina, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State and many others- one simply does not get an offer from the Clemson football program as a freshman.
For those wondering, the Tigers have yet to offer one prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle.
Clemson offered Deshaun Watson going into his 10th grade season and Lawrence was offered as a sophomore, as well. That shows just how special Terrell has the capability of becoming.
Terrell said that seeing his big brother go to school at Clemson was special, but that the Tigers were already in great position with him well before Terrell attended.
"“Clemson already feels like home,” Terrell said via Tigernet. “Clemson felt like home for my brother. And even if he didn’t go to Clemson, that would be my dream school. It was my dream school before he went there. Clemson and Florida are my top two.”"
The fact that we’re seeing the Clemson football coaching staff make an offer to Terrell shows two things:
- The coaching staff already has a fairly good relationship with him and believes he has great character to fit into the program.
- The coaches are sold on his talent being transcendent at the collegiate level.
Terrell is no normal freshman. He has the ability and potential to develop into one of the best cornerbacks to play at the collegiate level and it will be interesting to see how his recruitment plays out over the course of the next few years.
