Greatest Clemson football players of Danny Ford era: 1. Jeff Davis

Nicknamed ‘The Judge,’ Jeff Davis leads off our list.

Davis is the most physical and aggressive linebacker in Clemson football history and that can be seen in his accolades.

Davis started 35 of his 40 career games at Clemson and finished with 469 total tackles. Davis was the team captain on the 1981 Tiger team that won the National Championship. He led Clemson in tackles (175), which set a school record for tackles in a single season.

One of the most dominant games of his career came in 1980 when he had 24 tackles against North Carolina.

He was inducted into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989 and was later named to the Clemson Ring of Honor.
