Clemson football fans wait alongside the rest of the country to see if there will be a 2020 College Football season. There is some good news.
The 2020 Clemson football team is the odds-on favorite to win the National Championship and it’s clear to see why.
The Tigers return a ton of talent and skill across the field and feature the best and most experienced coaching staff in the country.
However, the elephant in the room is the question fans across the country are asking right now: Will we have College Football to begin with?
As Clemson football fans wait alongside the rest of the country, there does seem to be some good news on the horizon.
Dr. Anthony Fauci was optimistic that schools across the country will be able to re-open this coming fall, according to Sports Illustrated’s Bulldog Maven. That could spell optimism for colleges being open and college football making a return.
"“Bottom line is, no absolute prediction, but I think we’re going to be in good shape,” Fauci said. “By the time we get to the fall… we will have this under control enough that it certainly will not be the way it now where people are shutting schools. It’s going to be different, remember now, because this is not going to disappear.”"
Fauci did say that he is optimistic by nature and that things could look very different from where we have been in the past until this is completely under control, but these comments at least show a light at the end of the tunnel.
In addition to those comments, Adam Schefter also reported that there is a certainty around College Football this season.
Speaking to people in and around college football this week, there is “strong conviction” there will be college football this season. Uncertainty about when - multiple scenarios being debated - but they sound certain there still will be college football this season.

There have been several different ideas for College Football this upcoming season. People have suggested any of the following, but it’s impossible to know what the plan will be here several months out from the start of the season:
- Starting the regular season on time with fans, as normal.
- Starting the regular season on time, but no fans in the stands.
- Pushing back the season to an October start that would include just conference games.
- Pushing back the season to start in December or early 2021 and playing through the spring.
All Clemson football fans can do right now is remain optimistic and hold out hope. We know that there will be light at the end of the tunnel at some point in the future and only time will tell how long that will be.
