5-star Clemson football target Payton Page is a big defensive lineman who projects very similarly to Dexter Lawrence at the next level.

One of the biggest targets in the 2021 Clemson football recruiting class is 5-star DT Payton Page.

Page, a 6-foot-4, 360 pound prospect from Greensboro, N.C., is currently considered the No. 4 DT in the nation and the No. 2 overall player in the state of North Carolina, according to 247 Sports’ Composite Player Rankings.

Page said on Twitter earlier in March that he was planning to commit before his senior season, which means we could be seeing a decision from him very soon.

Though recruiting is currently on hold, it should be noted that Clemson football is in good shape with the talented defensive tackle as we move forward. Page was on campus for Clemson’s Elite Junior Day back in January and, from all accounts, he has absolutely loved the time he has spent with the coaching staff and on campus.

Page told The Clemson Insider that he is on the program because of the family atmosphere and went on to say that his parents were in love with Clemson, as well.

"“When I go to Clemson, they treat me like family, first,” Page told The Clemson Insider. “They actually say hey to my family first, then me.”"

The biggest competition for Clemson football in his recruiting will be in-state school North Carolina, led by Mack Brown.

There’s no question why the Tigers are so high on Page. He is the only defensive tackle with an offer in the 2021 class and it’s clear that Dabo Swinney and Co. would love to get his commitment.

Page, in many ways, is Dexter Lawrence.

He has elite-level strength and is a guy who can take up space and stuff the run. The prospect of adding him to the mix with 5-star DE Korey Foreman, as well as guys who are already on campus like freshmen Bryan Bresee, Demonte Capehart and Myles Murphy, to name a few, is an absolutely monstrous combination.
