Clemson Football: Kirk Herbstreit would be ‘shocked’ if CFB season happened
The 2020 Clemson football team is currently considered the favorite to compete for a National Championship, but Kirk Herbstreit doesn’t think it’ll happen.
The 2020 Clemson football team is currently considered the favorite to compete for the National Championship, but there is a lot of uncertainty around the entire season, at least according to many College Football insiders.
Perhaps one of the most respected College Football Analysts- Kirk Herbstreit- came out and gave a statement that certainly should have Clemson football fans at least a little concerned.
Herbstreit appeared on ESPN Radio Thursday and painted a very bleak picture for the upcoming season.
"“I’ll be shocked if we have NFL football this fall, if we have college football. I’ll be so surprised if that happens,” Herbstreit said. “Just because from what I understand, people that I listen to, you’re 12 to 18 months from a [coronavirus] vaccine. I don’t know how you let these guys go into locker rooms and let stadiums be filled up and how you can play ball. I just don’t know how you can do it with the optics of it.”"
Just like the rest of us, Herbstreit is just offering a guess as to what he believes will happen because the truth of the matter is that no one knows. It should be noted, though, that probably no one has more sources inside the world of College Football than Herbstreit.
Until something changes, we as Clemson football fans should continue to hold out hope. There’s a long way to go in all of this and it should be pointed out that administrations and the NCAA will do everything they can to get a football season in, if it can be done safely.
It will be interesting to see what happens over the course of the next few months, but one thing is for certain: There should be a great amount of appreciation and gratitude for sports when they do return.
As sports fans, we all too often have taken them for granted, but the truth is that nothing is a given. One day, when we do return to normal, we should never take those things we enjoy for granted again.
