Despite Clemson football having to shut down all in-person recruiting during the spring live period, the Tigers are still making headway with some of the country’s most coveted recruits.

Former Clemson football co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott had built a reputation as being one of the nation’s best recruiters, repeatedly being ranked within the Top 20 in America among college football coaches.

Current defensive line coach Todd Bates was recognized this last year as one of the top two recruiters in college football and Coach Robbie Caldwell joined him in the Top 20. Having some of the best recruiters in the sport is certainly paying dividends well for Clemson at the moment.

When looking at the 247 Composite rankings for the 2021 class, Clemson has received three commitments from players in the Top 50 and is among the favorites to land five more recruits.

So far in the 2021 class, Clemson football has received commitments from the top overall players in Korey Foreman as well as Jeremiah Trotter and Jordan Hancock. It should not be shocking that three of the nation’s best defensive players want to come to play for the nation’s best defensive coordinator in Brent Venables.

As long as Venables is at Clemson, he will continue to bring in the nation’s best. Of course, coaches like Todd Bates, Mike Reed, Mickey Conn, and Lemanksi Hall also are huge factors in identifying and recruiting that talent.

Clemson is listed among the favorites to land five other players listed in the 247 Composite Top 50 rankings.

Will Shipley – RB

Shipley is a five-star all-purpose back out of Matthews, NC and has offers from some of the country’s best. Clemson and Notre Dame are battling for his services.

Tristen Leigh – OT

The big 6’5 290-pound offensive tackle out of Fairfax, VA has offers from Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Penns State, and Virginia Tech just to name a few. According to the crystal ball on 247, Clemson is the current favorite to land the countries fourth rated offensive tackle.

Ga’Quincy McKinstry – CB

McKinstry is rated as the second-best corner in the country behind Tony Grimes. Auburn is currently listed as a slight favorite over Clemson, but as we all know, Coach Venables and Swinney seemed to work wonders when it comes to closing in and coming out with the guys they really want.

Nolan Rucci – OT

The Tigers have not had a kid this size since they signed Isaiah Battle back in 2012. At 6’8 and 290 pounds, he is an absolute monster of a tackle and a kid that can be molded by Coach Caldwell and sculpted by Coach Batson and the S&C staff. Clemson and Penn State are the leaders for his services.

Payton Page – DT

Another stud defensive tackle out of North Carolina that is favored to don the orange and purple of Clemson football at the next level. Page is one of the most sought after defensive tackles in the country with more than 30 offers from the schools on each coast.

Whoever lands the services of this monster is getting a great kid and Clemson is currently the leader in that regard.

All in all, Clemson has made just 61 offers for the class of 2021. With 10 solid commitments from the Top 300 rated recruits in the country and several more on the way, it is safe to say that despite all of the issues we are facing as a country, Clemson recruiting is still full speed ahead with no slowing down in sight.
