3. The Victory Split

Though Clemson came up short during Wilkins’ freshman season, the Tigers were bound and determined to get back to the National Championship game the following year.

They did just that and- this time- avenged their loss to Alabama from a year before.

While everyone was celebrating the most important win in more than 30 years for the Clemson football program, Wilkins made national spotlight doing his ‘victory split.’

That was the first moment for Wilkins in the national spotlight where media members and analysts began to recognize his personality and character. It would only build over the course of his next two seasons at Clemson.
