Kids these days love to commit to schools every time they take a visit, even getting a tattoo of a school doesn’t mean that a kid will end up coming as promised. However, one of the greatest Tigers to ever put on the orange and purple committed early in high school and saw it through despite mounting pressure and other high profile offers at the time.

Of course, we are talking about Deshaun Watson.

There are a lot of things that one could say about Deshaun but he was everything that you hope any student will be in college, let alone the face of your program. He is a leader in every sense of the word and did more for Clemson on and off the field than Clemson ever did for him.

Winning championships are great but Deshaun showed the world that Clemson football and Dabo Swinney would give you more than just high-level football. He showed that they cared about the person more than the player and that if you put the effort into it, Clemson would provide the tools to be successful after football as well.

Deshaun also continued the leadership and culture that players before like Tajh Boyd, Vic Beasley and Grady Jarrett all helped to instill within the walls of Clemson football. There was a belief that once Watson left, Clemson would crumble and instead they have become even stronger because of what he helped build.
