Could the Clemson football program be seeing a major change in its spring schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic that is happening across the world?

While the Clemson football team has been unaffected by the coronavirus at the time of this writing, there could be some changes coming down the pipe.

Just in the last 12 hours, we have seen positive tests for NBA players resulting in the league suspending its season.

The major College Basketball conferences have now canceled their conference tournaments, and the NCAA announced that the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments would be played without fans in attendance, though there is growing speculation the tournaments may not be played at all.

In the world of College Football, we’ve already seen Ohio State, Notre Dame Michigan make major changes to their spring schedules and the same could be expected for many other programs- including Clemson football- moving forward.

Clemson University made the announcement Thursday afternoon that all classes after spring break until March 30 would only take place online.

Dabo Swinney met with the media during the Clemson football Pro Day- which took place this morning- and said that no changes had been made yet, but that the administration would be meeting and making a decision in the near future about plans moving forward.

It’s not fair to speculate too much and we won’t speculate at all on the virus itself, but it seems pretty safe to say that things won’t continue as normal for Clemson football in the spring.

In my opinion, the Spring Game- in terms of live attendance- is certainly up-in-the-air as administrations and officials will be looking to make the decision that best protects the public, as well as the athletes, coaches and personnel. That could very well mean they cancel the event entirely.
