6. The Catch, Part II was called Offensive Pass-Interference

Was it a push-off? The referee certainly did say it was.

Of course, we’re talking about the infamous moment known as ‘The Catch: Part II’ where Rod Gardner caught a Hail Mary heave from Woody Dantzler as the clock ticked under 20 seconds against in-state rival South Carolina. Gardner’s catch set up a game-winning field goal and the Tigers rallied from behind to beat the Gamecocks 16-14.

But what if the official had called it a push-off? All of a sudden, that momentum-shifting, historical play would’ve been wiped out and Clemson’s win likely with it.
