The Clemson football program should expect LB Isaiah Simmons to be a highly-touted and drafted prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Unsurprisingly, Isaiah Simmons announced his intention to enter the 2020 NFL Draft and forego his final year of eligibility with the Clemson football program just a few weeks ago.
Simmons, one of the top defensive prospects in the draft, is highly-touted and has a skillset that is absolutely making NFL scouts drool.
Here’s a look at his 2020 NFL Draft profile and what Clemson football fans can expect moving forward with Simmons.
2020 NFL Draft Profile: LB/S Isaiah Simmons
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 230 pounds
Draft Projection: Top 10
Analysis:
There is no NFL Mock Draft that has Simmons going outside of the top-10, and that’s for a good reason.
Simmons has a very good chance to become a top-5 draft pick before it’s all said and done, but there’s no doubt that he’ll go in the top-10. At this point, I don’t think he’ll fall past No. 7, where the Carolina Panthers pick.
Simmons is the type of hybrid linebacker/nickel that pro scouts dream of. He has the athleticism to be an elite defender in coverage, but also has the physicality and strength elements to be effective in run-support and in rushing the passer.
More than anything, his versatility and freakish athleticism is what has scouts talking. Simmons is 230 pounds, but can run stride-for-stride with Travis Etienne– who is projected as one of the top running back prospects in next year’s draft.
The things he can do athletically make him a valued prospect and there’s no doubt in my mind we’ll see Simmons go early in Day One when it’s all said and done.
