Commitments: Phil Mafah, 4-star

Targets:

Will Shipley, 5-star
Malik Newton, 3-star

At this point, the Tigers were likely only planning on taking one running back in the 2021 cycle, but they will leave the door open for 5-star RB Will Shipley- who will likely be deciding between Clemson and Notre Dame in the future.

Shipley is a different type of running back who can make plays in the passing game and would be a nice complement to the stable of backs the Tigers currently have on campus.

Clemson did offer 3-star Malik Newton, but things have cooled on his recruitment and it looks like the Tigers will focus in on Shipley and then likely shut things down on the position- with or without his commitment- unless numbers change.
