Clemson seniors that won’t hear their name called in the NFL draft
Like Tanner Muse, Chad Smith was part of the 2015 signing class that also included Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell, and Austin Bryant. This class from top to bottom should go down as the best class ever in Clemson history.
Not because of wins or championships but because the solidified the foundation that Deshaun Watson and the 2014 class help to establish and what Clemson’s future success is built off of.
As far as the NFL, Chad Smith more than likely will never play in the league. If professional football is still a goal, he has the CFL as well as the XFL in the near future.
Unfortunately for Chad, he lacks most of the physical tangibles that teams are looking such as size and speed. He will have an opportunity to test well at Clemson’s pro-day but will not get a combine invite. Hopefully, he surrounds himself with a good team and they can pick a great landing spot when he gets a rookie minicamp invite and can show that while he may not look the part he can play even if it is just on special teams.
