5-star Clemson football DE commit Korey Foreman has the potential to be one of the top edge-rushers in the country during his career.
The Clemson football program received a big-time commitment Sunday night when 5-star DE Korey Foreman announced that he’d be committing to the Tigers.
Foreman, a resident of Corona, California, is the considered the No. 1 overall player in the nation. Should all things remain the same, Foreman would make the second-straight No. 1 overall commitment for the Tigers (Bryan Bresee is No. 1 in 2020) and the third in the past four seasons (Trevor Lawrence was No. 1 in 2018), according to the 247 Sports’ Composite player rankings.
Going out to California and taking the state’s best players is becoming a healthy trend for the Clemson football program. The Tigers have now signed names like 5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei (2020), 4-star WR Joseph Ngata (2019) and now have commitments from two other stars in Foreman and 4-star WR Beaux Collins in the 2021 class.
Though it’s easy to get overexcited about star-ratings, the truth is that Foreman is the real deal.
The edge-rusher has quickness off the ball and explosiveness to compete at the next level. Many are comparing him to Chase Young and, honestly, those comparisons make a lot of sense.
He’s able to dominate opposing offensive linemen with speed and finesse when he needs to, but can also just overpower guys with his pure strength and technique, as well.
Foreman is going to join a star-studded group of defensive linemen when he arrives on campus next season, but there’s no doubt that he has the talent and ability to compete at a high level and earn snaps immediately.
The 2021 Clemson football recruiting class is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation and the Tigers are in great position with several other top prospects in the cycle as we head into the spring.
