The Clemson football team will take the field in a matter of hours to play the LSU Tigers. Here are three keys to a victory.

The Clemson football team has waited for this moment since the beginning of the season.

The Tigers have worked hard to get back to the CFB Playoff and have an opportunity to compete for another National Championship.

On Monday night, all that hard work pays off.

Here are three keys to a victory for Clemson football as the Tigers look to come away with back-to-back National Championships by defeating the LSU Tigers in New Orleans.

  • Key No. 3: Win the turnover battle

The first thing Clemson needs to do to win this game is refrain from turning the ball over and force an interception or fumble to create another possession.

The Tigers were absolutely outstanding at taking advantage of Ohio State miscues and mistakes in the Fiesta Bowl and that needs to be the case here.

If Clemson can take advantage of LSU mistakes and win that turnover battle, we’ll see Dabo Swinney hoist the trophy when it’s all said and done.

  • Key No. 2: Create pressure on Burrow, make him settle

You’ve got to get after Joe Burrow.

Burrow gets the ball out quickly to his play-makers. However, he has been sacked 30 times this season and will attempt to scramble around when nothing is open.

If Clemson can get to Burrow and create pressure, they may can force timing to be off and make him settle for underneath routes.

Clemson can’t allow LSU to have a ton of big, explosive plays. Make the Tigers dink-and-dunk their way down the field and hopefully you can force them into a few mistakes while containing that explosive attack.

  • Key No. 1: Let Trevor Lawrence be Trevor Lawrence

If Clemson wins this game, it’s going to be on the shoulders of Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence is clutch and has proven to come up big-time when the Tigers need him most. Tonight, Clemson needs to open up the playbook and allow Lawrence to simply be himself.

Give him time to throw and allow him to get into a rhythm.
