The Clemson football team enters the National Championship as underdogs as the Tigers prepare to take on the LSU Tigers.

For the first time all season, the Clemson football team will enter a game as an underdog according to Vegas.

The Tigers, who hold a 29-game winning streak, will enter the National Championship as 5.5-point underdogs to the LSU Tigers, courtesy of the Action Network.

The spread actually opened at 4.5 points, but has grown a full point over the course of the last couple of days. Not only is the spread growing, but the number of bets continue to pour in favor of LSU. The SEC Tigers are currently receiving 79 percent of the bets placed.

Early Thoughts:

It’s clear to see why the vast majority of bettors are placing their money on Joe Burrow and Co. The Tigers just put up 63 points on the perceived No. 4 team in the nation in Oklahoma and they will have homefield advantage with the National Championship being played in New Orleans.

In addition, the nation absolutely loves the story of LSU. They love what Joe Burrow has done, leading up to a Heisman victory.

Clemson, on the other hand, doesn’t have the love of the country. People have already seen the Tigers win and they certainly don’t want to see Dabo Swinney come away holding yet another trophy.

That being said, I believe Swinney will use this to the Tigers’ advantage. This 2019 Clemson football team is better than most want to give credit for and I think you’ll see the Tigers come out with something to prove Monday night.

LSU has been good this season, but the Tigers haven’t faced anything close to what Clemson will bring to the table in less than a couple of weeks.
