2. The first CFB Playoff poll

Do you remember the CFB Playoff committee’s first ranking? Well, Clemson wasn’t in the top-four.

The Tigers were No. 5 behind LSU, Alabama, Ohio State and Penn State.

Yes, everyone knew the four programs were going to play each other, but it was still absolutely ridiculous that the playoff committee had bought into the media narratives about Clemson and punished the Tigers as a result.

The committee was also inconsistent when it came to the reasoning behind the rankings. The committee used resume to talk about LSU, but used the ‘eye test’ for Alabama and Ohio State. It was more about schedule with Penn State.

There was no set of criteria and, instead, it was just whichever team the committee wanted to put in the spot.
