3. Clemson was never going to land Jordan Burch

There was one major ‘miss’ [if you want to call it that] in this 2020 cycle and it was in-state 5-star DE Jordan Burch.

Burch, who played at Hammond School in Columbia, clearly grew up a huge South Carolina and SEC fan. Despite the Tigers’ best efforts to get him to sign, Burch ultimately elected to sign with the Gamecocks.

The truth is that there are some prospects that are just never going to work out. No matter how hard you recruit them or how high they are on your board, they’re just not truly interested.

The Tigers already recruited heavily along the defensive line with guys like Bryan Bresee, Demonte Capehart and Myles Murphy, but obviously would’ve loved to get Burch.

When he never made an effort to schedule an official visit and didn’t take a visit to Clemson since the All-In Cookout- all the while taking officials at other schools and visiting South Carolina multiple times- it just went to show that he wasn’t coming to Clemson.
