1. 1900: 51-0 (Margin of victory: 51)

The single-largest margin of victory for Clemson in the Palmetto Bowl happened all the way back in 1900 when the Tigers whipped the Gamecocks by a score of 51-0.

That Clemson team, led by first-year coach John Heisman, finished with a perfect 6-0 record and a SIAA (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association) championship.

In terms of blow outs, this was nothing new for Clemson that season. The Tigers allowed just 10 points the entire year and posted four shutouts (in six games). South Carolina was just the next victim.

According to a local newspaper, Clemson was strong on offense, but ‘woefully weak’ on defense and the 1900 matchup would be the most even of the rivalry to that point. That just goes to show you that sports analysts even back during the turn of the 20th century couldn’t properly evaluate talent.
