Though Clemson football has been discredited for much of the season, Vegas doesn’t believe the Tigers would have trouble holding their own in the CFB Playoff.

The 2019 Clemson football team has had its fair share of criticisms and snubs over the course of this season.

The Tigers have been looked at under a microscope- though many people don’t even watch their games- and, as a result, have had to earn every ounce of their No. 3 ranking in the current CFB Playoff poll.

Though Clemson football has been discredited, Vegas believes the Tigers would fare just fine against many potential opponents in the CFB Playoff.

Here’s a look at what spreads would be, according to Vegas, if the current top-four remained the same teams in the field for the CFB Playoff.

  • LSU (-3.5) vs. Georgia
  • Clemson (pick ‘em) vs. Ohio State
  • Ohio State (-3.5) vs. LSU
  • Ohio State (-7) vs. Georgia
  • Clemson (-3.5) vs. LSU
  • Clemson (-7) vs. Georgia

At this point in the season, Vegas has made it abundantly clear that Clemson and Ohio State are equals in terms of odds and that the two programs would be the favorites no matter the opponent.

Both Clemson football and the Buckeyes have proved to be, in my opinion, the two most complete teams in the nation. Looking inside the current top-four, you can find major flaws with both LSU and Georgia.

While LSU has an explosive offense- one of the best in the nation- the Tigers haven’t been able to stop any offense with a pulse all season long. Though Georgia has a dominant defense, the Bulldogs have an ugly offense that would struggle to put up points against Clemson and Ohio State.

It will be interesting to see if these trends continue over the course of the rest of the season, but right now it certainly seems that Vegas knows what it is talking about in terms of spreads and favorites.
