1. He’s carrying the Texans

One of the greatest ways to determine if a player should be an MVP candidate or not is to ask this simple question: Would they be where they are without them?

Would the Texans be competing in the AFC without Deshaun Watson? The answer is a hard no.

If it weren’t for Watson, the Texans may very well be at the bottom of the division and already in tanking mode. Watson’s leadership and ability has taken this franchise to a new level.

Despite the fact that he has one of the worst offensive lines in the league, Watson is finding ways to make plays and taking hits as a result. He continues to get back up and play the game.

Without Watson, we’re not talking about the Texans as any type of contender. With Watson, the Texans are certainly a dangerous team to be reckoned with and could certainly make a run deep into the playoffs before it’s all said and done.
