The Clemson football team scored its highest total all season in a 59-7 victory over the Boston College Eagle Saturday night in Death Valley.

The Clemson football team improved to 8-0 on the season with a 59-7 win over the Boston College Eagles Saturday night.

With the win, the Tigers are now 6-0 in the ACC and have an opportunity to clinch at least part of the ACC Atlantic Division with a win against the NC State Wolfpack two weeks from now.

Before we move ahead to the rest of the 2019 Clemson football season, though, let’s take a look back at the Tigers’ victory over Boston College with offensive grades and report card.

Offensive Report Card vs. Boston College:

Coming into the game, we all knew Clemson would have an opportunity to score a lot of points. Boston College has one of the nation’s worst defenses and that was on display Saturday night as the Tigers moved the ball up and down the field.

Other than a couple of stalled drives, the Tigers scored at will.

Trevor Lawrence finished the night completing 16-of-19 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 42 yards. Lawrence did an excellent job getting the ball out to his play-makers and not trying to do too much. He didn’t force the ball into coverage and used his check-down options.

Clemson Co-Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliott said after the game that Lawrence has looked more like himself lately and that the quarterback is “playing within the system” and is more comfortable as a result.

Diondre Overton led the Tigers in the receiving attack, catching three passes for 119 yards and scoring on all three receptions. It was good to see the veteran get involved and have the biggest night of his Clemson football career to this point. Justyn Ross also added four receptions for 60 yards and Amari Rodgers caught a touchdown off of a screen play.

In the rushing attack, Travis Etienne led the way with 16 carries for 109 yards and three touchdowns. Lyn-J Dixon had eight carries for 78 yards.

Etienne did an excellent job getting out in space and he was just one missed tackle away from a couple more explosive runs.

Grade: A

Overall, the offense had its best night of the season. The unit put up 674 total yards and it looked in sync in doing so. The Tigers could’ve put up as many points as they wanted to Saturday night and it was refreshing to see the explosiveness on display against Boston College.
