The Clemson football team will host Florida State this afternoon in Death Valley. Here are our staff predictions for the ACC Atlantic matchup.
After having a week off due to an open date, the Clemson Tigers will be back in town to play host to the Florida State Seminoles in an ACC Atlantic matchup.
The Tigers will be looking to improve to 6-0 on the season and maintain a perfect record as we hit the midway point of October.
Here’s a look at our staff predictions for the game this afternoon.
Shawn Spencer
Score: Clemson 49, Florida State 14
Reason: The Tigers take control of this one early with a couple of long touchdowns. The offense looks better than what it did the last time we saw them and the defense continues its streak of dominance. Florida State will move the ball and score a couple of times- probably in the second half- but the outcome of the game will never be in doubt.
Barry Shuck
Score: Clemson 41, Florida State 27
Reason: 14 of FSU’s points will come off of the second-team.
Cole Little
Score: Clemson 45, Florida State 17
Reason: After having a week off to let their close call with the North Carolina Tar Heels and subsequent drop in the polls marinate, the Tigers are almost certainly going to be motivated to make a statement against the Florida State Seminoles at Death Valley on Saturday. Despite Florida State’s defensive improvements from recent weeks, the Seminoles will likely be unable to keep the Clemson offense in check, resulting in a comfortable victory for the Tigers.
Sean Watterson
Score: Clemson 42, Florida State 17
Reason: The offense goes off early, Florida State scores late in garbage time. The Tigers have had two weeks to think about the UNC game and heard the pundits talk about it as though it were a loss (hi Mr. Finebaum!) I’d expect to see some fireworks in this one. As long as Trevor keeps his composure and doesn’t force anything.
Tyreese Ingram
Score: Clemson 35, Florida State 17
Reason: Clemson’s defense steps up against the run and harass the Seminoles’ quarterbacks for four quarters, and the offense hits enough explosive passing plays to control the game.
Nick Young
Score: Clemson 28, Florida State 10
Reason: Coming off of a bye week, the Tigers have a chance to work out their offensive kinks and produce a stellar performance against the Seminoles.
