3. Freshman QB

Let’s start by saying this: QB Sam Howell is a special player.

Howell has shown poise in the face of opposition at times this season and has even had some late-game magic. That being said, when he faced adversity the past two weeks, he folded.

Howell has been turnover happy and it should certainly be expected that he makes a few mistakes against the Tigers’ vaunted defense this weekend.

Clemson is going to bring pressure and hurry him. With that kind of intense pressure and the talented secondary that the Tigers possess, it’s going to be tough for the freshman quarterback to get anything going.

This will be a learning experience for the young quarterback and he’ll continue to improve, but it likely won’t be a good day for him and that Tar Heel offense.
