It’s clear that the National Media isn’t concerned when it comes to the Clemson football team’s perceived weak schedule for the 2019 season.

The AP Poll was released for Week 5 and there was no major change in terms of the Clemson football team’s ranking.

Though many predicted that Georgia, who barely beat Notre Dame, would pull ahead of the Tigers for the No. 1 spot in the nation, the Bulldogs remained No. 3 in the eyes of the media. The Tigers remain well ahead of Alabama with 1,543 points compared to the Crimson Tide’s 1,485 points. Georgia is in third with 1,400 points and LSU fourth with 1,344 points.

Many opposing fans have already begun to harp on the 2019 Clemson football schedule. They’ve thrown out lines like “Clemson doesn’t play anybody” and “the Tigers have an easy path to the playoff.”

Well, to this point in the season, the media isn’t batting an eye by putting Clemson as the top team in the nation.

Though people like to do so, the Tigers can’t be judged by their opponent’s success. Yes, the ACC has looked horrible. But, it’s not Clemson’s fault that the conference- as well as a non-conference team like South Carolina- is mediocre.

Clemson football has actively scheduled in the non-conference and played a Texas A&M team that battled Auburn at home. Auburn is considered a top-10 team by the AP Poll.

The overarching theme here, though, is that Clemson isn’t going to be discredited because of its schedule. As long as the Tigers win, they’re in.

The media has finally learned its lesson- at least some of them anyway- about doubting Dabo Swinney and this Clemson football program. The Tigers have enough talent to go undefeated with an SEC, Pac-12, Big Ten or Big 12 schedule. They’re the best team in the country.

And because of that, the media isn’t discrediting them for a lackluster schedule.

Clemson has proven that it belongs. The Tigers are in a tier right now solely with Alabama and as long as they win, no one with any clue about football is going to doubt them.
