Clemson football WR Joseph Ngata is poised to breakout at some point during the 2019 season. When he does, opposing defense will have no chance.

There’s a reason the Clemson football coaches are high on freshman WR Joseph Ngata.

Ngata has returned a few kicks and has looked swift in his running ability. He has played plenty of snaps at wide receiver, but has only registered two catches for 37 yards through the first three games of the season.

Ngata has been targeted several times, but it just seems that he and QB Trevor Lawrence have been a step off from being in sync with one another. Lawrence has overthrown Ngata a couple of times and the freshman has been a step out of position on a few other throws.

That being said, it’s clear by just looking at him that the freshman is poised for a breakout performance with the Clemson football program.

Ngata is big, physical and fleet of foot. Opposing defensive backs don’t have the strength to defend him cleanly. He’s not just tall and physical, though, he’s also got some speed and nice footwork. Though I wouldn’t say Ngata is the type of wide receiver that turns on the jets and leaves you in the dust, he certainly has long strides and runs smoothly as you can see in his kickoff returns.

Expect the Clemson football coaching staff to look for opportunities to target Ngata in the one-on-one passing game over the next few match ups. It’s clear that they want the freshman to get some touches because of his explosive play-making ability.

Fellow freshman WR Frank Ladson Jr. has already made an impact, scoring two touchdowns, and it will only be a matter of time before Ngata joins him. The freshman is going to make a major impact for Clemson football this season and it’s only a matter of time before he breaks out.
