Clemson Football: 5 Tigers who impressed vs. Syracuse
5. Mario Goodrich
Though Mario Goodrich expected to play some snaps against Syracuse, he never imagined that he’d get the playing time in which he did Saturday night.
Derion Kendrick suffered from back spasms and was unable to play the majority of the game. With Kendrick out, Goodrich was tasked with stepping up and he did just that.
In pass-coverage, Goodrich did an excellent job keeping up with his man and he defended a few passes thrown his way. Syracuse tried to challenge him and virtually had no success.
Not only did Goodrich play well in coverage, he came away with what may have been the play of the game early in the third quarter.
After an interception on the Tigers’ first drive of the second half, Syracuse was set up pretty inside the Clemson football 10-yard line. On the first play, Goodrich came up with an interception at the 4-yard line and took away any potential momentum that Syracuse had gained.
