The Clemson football team took care of Texas A&M Saturday afternoon in Death Valley, beating the Aggies in a top-15 match up.

The Clemson Tigers improved to 2-0 Saturday afternoon with an impressive win over the Texas A&M Aggies.

The Aggies came into the game with a ton of confidence, promising an upset over the Tigers. Unfortunately for them, Clemson proved to be the deeper, more talented and more physical team. The Tigers methodically took care of business and came away with a 24-10 victory over Texas A&M.

Texas A&M got the scoring started in the second quarter by kicking a field goal. The Aggies had a 16-play drive and looked pretty good early on. The Tigers made adjustments, though, and didn’t allow another score until garbage time (less than 10 seconds remaining) when the game had already been decided. Jimbo Fisher decided to take a timeout to make sure his team scored and made it a two touchdown game.

Clemson drove down the field and got on the board with an impressive 30-yard touchdown pass on the run from Trevor Lawrence to Justyn Ross. BT Potter later hit a field goal to make the game 10-3 before Clemson drove down the field quickly and capped off the first half with a Trevor Lawrence rushing touchdown.

Lyn-J Dixon scored the Tigers’ final touchdown of the game with 5:50 left in the third quarter on a 4-yard rush. Here’s the box score, key stats and analysis from the game.

Analysis:

Clemson came away with the win, and Tiger fans should feel really good about the team going forward. The team won by double-digits and still left a ton of points on the board. The offense had some miscues and had a few opportunities and just couldn’t capitalize.

The Tiger defense had a few times where they bent, but the unit never broke. Texas A&M scored a touchdown with less than 10 seconds to go, which was a cheap spread cover, but you should be happy with the defensive performance.

The unit grew up over the course of the game and there’s still plenty of room to grow.

The overall takeaway from this game should be just that: There’s still plenty of room to grow. The Tigers beat a team that is ranked inside the top-12 in the nation by 14 points and didn’t even give their best performance. This Clemson team is going to get better as the season progresses and it’s clear they’ve got the talent on both sides of the ball to get back to CFB Playoff and compete.
