2. Contain Kellen Mond
Kellen Mond ran roughshod over Clemson football last season.
Mond threw for 430 yards and three touchdowns for what was the best game of his 2019 season. There were several times during that game where Mond put the ball in double-coverage and out of sheer luck a Texas A&M wide receiver came down with the ball.
That being said, Mond is a threat in the passing game and the running game. He can beat you with both and will look to exploit the Tigers, especially those inexperienced linebackers.
The key for the Clemson defense is to get to Mond, make him uncomfortable and make him try to force the issue. If he’s flustered, he’ll make bad decisions.
