Clemson Football: 5 keys to a victory vs. Texas A&M 2019

5. Solid Fundamental Defense

The defense had a few missed tackles and blown coverages last week against Georgia Tech. Part of the blown coverages had to do with the fact that the Tigers were playing a lot of ‘Cover-Zero’ defense and daring the Yellow Jackets to throw the ball.

This week, we’ll see different coverage schemes and a more balanced approach from the Tiger defense.

With that, Clemson will need to wrap up and finish tackles. They need to finish plays and just play solid, fundamental defense.

It’s clear that this Clemson football defensive unit will continue to improve as the season progresses. They don’t need to play their best game of the season, but they do need to make fundamental plays, in both tackling and coverage, especially.
