Clemson Football: Scouting Report vs. Texas A&M 2019
What do Clemson football fans need to know about Texas A&M coming into Saturday’s match up? Here’s our scouting report for the Aggies.
The Clemson football team will take on the Texas A&M Aggies Saturday afternoon in Death Valley.
The Tigers come into the game ranked No. 1 in the nation while the Aggies are No. 11. Last season, Clemson went into College Station and came away with a 28-26 win over Texas A&M. This year, the Aggies will be looking for revenge as they head on the road.
The Clemson football team is currently a 16.5-point favorite over Texas A&M at home, but the Aggies certainly have the talent to make this a game.
What do Clemson football fans need to know about Texas A&M? Here’s our breakdown and scouting report for the Aggies.
Offensive Scouting Report:
Jimbo Fisher’s offense has historically given Clemson fits in the past. The Aggies are going to run a lot of ’11 personnel,’ meaning they have one tight end and one running back on the field. At some points, they may choose to go with a two tight end look or ’10 personnel’ which means four wide receivers.
But, for the most part, we’re going to see Fisher utilize the tight end to create mismatches in the passing game and open up holes in the running game.
The Aggies are led by Kellen Mond at quarterback. Mond has a strong arm and is really talented with his legs. Texas A&M has a seasoned offensive line with a lot of size returning, but they are looking to replace RB Trayveon Williams and TE Jace Sternberger from last year’s team.
RB Jashaun Corbin and Isaiah Spiller will be the two running backs that get the most carries. The Texas A&M wide receiver core has plenty of size, physicality and speed with Quartney Davis, Jhamon Ausbon and Kendrick Rogers.
Defensive Scouting Report:
Texas A&M is replacing the vast majority of its front-seven from last year, but does return DT Justin Madubuike. They’ve got plenty of talent, though, with guys like DT Bobby Brown, DE Tyree Johnson and DE Micheal Clemons.
The Aggies also have a physical secondary that will look to be able to compete with the Tigers’ vaunted wide receiver group.
It should also be pointed out that Texas A&M has one of the nation’s best punters in Braden Mann. He had a very good game against Clemson last year and will be a big part of turning field position and putting the Tigers in bad position.
